2,47,417 new Covid cases reported in India, 27% more than yesterday.

India added 2,47,417 new corona virus infections, the highest single-day increase in the current wave, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,63,17,927, according to updated data from the Union Health Ministry today.

The country recorded 380 new deaths, bringing the total death toll in India to 485,035 and the number of active cases to 11,17,531.

The daily positive rate was recorded at 13.11 per cent - yesterday it was 11.5 per cent - while the weekly positive rate was at 10.80 per cent.

Of the 5,488 cases of the Omigran variant, 2,162 have been cured or displaced.

The highest number of cases were reported in Maharashtra (1,367), followed by Rajasthan (792), Delhi (549), Karnataka (479) and Kerala (486).

As far as the Covid-19 vaccine status is concerned, the Health Ministry has so far given 154.61 crore vaccine doses under the nationwide vaccination drive.
