The 46-year-old was diagnosed positive with Omicron variant in Karnataka and has no travel history
A 46-year-old man from Karnataka, one of only two people affected by the Omicron variant of the corona virus in India, has no health care and travel history, government sources said.
Samples of the person were collected on November 22 and tested positive for Covid-19 .
On November 21 he developed symptoms of fever and body aches, following which he underwent an RTPCR test on November 22 at the hospital. By 4pm his test reports came in as positive.
Later, his samples were sent for genetic sorting.
He was isolated at home from November 22 to November 24 and was later admitted to the hospital on November 25, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)shared.
He was discharged on November 27 after three days of treatment.
According to the information, the person has 13 primary contacts and 205 secondary contacts.
"Between November 22 and 25, three primary contacts and two secondary contacts were tested positive. All of them have been isolated," Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said in a statement.
Another person who was positively diagnosed with the Omigron variant of the corona virus in India was a 66-year-old man with a travel history from South Africa - who was first diagnosed with the Omicron.
He was traveling from South Africa on November 20 with a negative report Covid-19, but was screened and tested at the Bangalore airport.
His test reports came in positive on November 20th.
On November 22, his test samples were sent for genetic sequencing. After he conducted a self-examination in a private laboratory on November 23, the reports came back negative.
"The 66-year-old had 24 primary contacts and 240 secondary contacts. They all tested negative," the BBMP said.
The person is currently on his way to Dubai from India.
The two cases were found in Karnataka and were "independent - unrelated", government sources said.
The Ministry of Health said on Thursday that all primary and secondary connections between the two patients were being diagnosed and tested.
Both cases are mild. The patients did not show any serious symptoms, the health ministry said.
Both of them were vaccinated twice by the Govt vaccine.
"Not all primary contacts are in home isolation. We are monitoring them," the BBMP said.
