Home Minister Amit Shah has promised all assistance from the central government and will continue to monitor the flood situation in Kerala.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also spoken to CM Vijayan to assess the situation and said that officials are working on the ground to help the injured.


Landslides in Idukki and Kottayam districts due to heavy rains in many parts of Kerala. The Met Office forecast heavy to very heavy rain until Sunday morning. Heavy rains in southern and central Kerala on Saturday killed 14 people and left many missing.


Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the center would provide all necessary assistance to the people affected by heavy rains and floods in Kerala. He said in a tweet, "The government is constantly monitoring some parts of Kerala due to heavy rains and floods." "The federal government will do all it can to help the people. NDRF teams have already been sent to assist in the rescue operation. I also pray for the safety of all," Shaw said.




The situation is very bad in some parts of the state. We will do everything we can to save lives. We have sought the help of the Army, Navy and Air Force. Relief camps have been set up in the districts, ”Kerala Chief Minister Binarayi Vijayan said in a statement.


Central forces teams, including 11 National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF), two Army and two Security Forces teams, are stationed in the southern and central parts of the states. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur districts and an orange warning for the southern states of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.




PTI said a naval helicopter with relief supplies had already been airlifted from INS Garuda in Kochi to the rain-hit areas. Two Air Force Chopper MI-17s were waiting at the Shanmugam AF station in Thiruvananthapuram. Despite the easing of rains, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has forecast low pressure in the eastern central Arabian Sea near the northeastern Kerala-Karnataka coast and light to moderate rains in the next 24 hours, followed by heavy showers in many parts of the state.
