18,987 new COVID-19 cases in India
According to the Union Health Ministry, 18,987 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in India, with an increase of 3,40,20,730 cases and a national cowpea recovery rate of 98.07 per cent.
The death toll rose to 4,51,435 with 246 new deaths, as of 8am updated data shows.
Puducherry has reported 49 new coronavirus cases and zero deaths in the last 24 hours, a senior health official said on Thursday.
"The Covid situation in Delhi is better. In my view, all Govt norms should be followed and Sat Puja should be allowed," Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Delhi LG Anil Baijal on the celebration of Chhath in the national capital.
India has administered a total of 35,66,347 doses in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of doses to 96,82,20,997.
A total of 13,01,083 tests were conducted on Wednesday, taking the total number of tests conducted so far to detect COVID-19 in the country to 58,76,64,525.
