Former IAS officer Rajiv Agarwal has been appointed as the head of public policy at Facebook India
Agarwal, in this role, will define and lead important policy development efforts for Facebook in India on an agenda that includes user security, data protection and privacy, content and web administration, a statement said.
In this role, Agarwal will report to Ajit Mohan, the Vice President and Managing Director of Facebook India, and he will be one of the Indian leadership team.
His last appointment was to Uber, who was the head of public policy for India and South Asia.
Agarwal has 26 years of experience as an Administrative Officer of India (IAS) and has served as a District Judge in nine districts across the state of Uttar Pradesh.
During his tenure as Executive Officer, he was India's Joint Secretary for National Policy Intellectual Property (IPRs) Industry and Internal Trade Development (M / o Commerce) and played a key role in digital transformation. Report of IP Offices in India.
He is closely associated with the Indo-US Bilateral Chamber of Commerce and is India's leading negotiator in IPRs with countries other than India.
During the appointment, Ajit Mohan said that Facebook is an ally for the amazing economic and social change that India is seeing and that digital plays a key role.

Agarwal’s appointment is a continuation of senior and leadership appointments in recent months showing marketing, partnership, communications and India’s major expansions and India’s commitment.
