UN Climate Change Commission's worst report: "Code Red For Humanity"

India, one of 195 members of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, today released its sixth assessment report. Scientists are observing changes in the Earth's climate in every region and in the entire climate system. Some changes that are already in motion - such as continuous sea level rise - are irreversible in hundreds to thousands of years. Yet drastic and rapid cuts in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases can control climate change, but countries must agree to do so. Even if some wonder countries agree, later this year, when Glasgow and the UK face immediate and severe cuts, it may take 20-30 years to stabilize global warming, but the benefits to air quality will come quickly.UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called the IPCC's assessment - the most detailed review of climate science ever conducted - "code red for humanity".

Here are 10 points from the IPCC Climate Change Report:

1.The world is warming fast. According to the bombshell report, global warming is on track to reach 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2030, a decade earlier than planned for 2018.

2.Sea level is rising fast. The average rate between 1901-1971 was 1.3 mm / year, which doubled to 3.7 mm / year between 2006-2018. The world average sea level increased by 0.20 (0.15 to 0.25) m between 1901 and 2018.

3.Heat peaks (including heat waves) have intensified more frequently in most parts of the country since the 1950s, while cold peaks (including cold waves) have intensified less and less.

4.Man-induced climate change is seen as the main impetus for these changes.

5.Cities are hotspots for global warming because of this heat and the lack of cooling areas like water and plants.

6.Severe heat, heavy rain and drought occur frequently and intensely once every 10-years and once every 50 years.

7.Extreme weather events with high volume, increased frequency, new locations, different time, new additions i.e. two or more extreme events occur together, for example heat wave and drought.

8.Although it is difficult to identify the exact causes of a particular extreme event, scientists can now measure the contribution of human influences to the magnitude and probability of each extreme event.

9. Climate change and quality are closely linked, two sides of the same coin. Talking about both issues together can lead to significant integration and economic benefits.

10. Global warming may be limited by the end of this century but it will take drastic and immediate cuts - from now on - in other processes releasing fossil fuels and greenhouse gases.
