Taliban captured Afghanistan



Since the US formally withdrew from Afghanistan, Taliban militants have intensified their control in Afghanistan.


On Sunday, the Taliban captured Kunduz, its third capture in the past week. After capturing six capitals, the Taliban are about to capture Mazar-i-Sharif, the largest city in the north.


Taliban forces now control 65% of Afghanistan, threaten to seize 11 provincial capitals and seek to snatch the traditional support of national forces north of the national capital, Kabul, a senior EU official said on Tuesday.


Make arrangements to return to India immediately 


India on Tuesday instructed its citizens to make travel arrangements for immediate repatriation before commercial flights are suspended in violence-hit Afghanistan.


"All Indian citizens visiting, staying and working in Afghanistan are strongly advised to improve themselves on the availability of commercial flights and to make immediate arrangements for their return to India before the cessation of air services," the statement from the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan said in a statement.


The government on Tuesday requested the Afghan Masar-e-Sharif and all Indian nationals around it to leave India.


A special flight departs from Mazar-i-Sharif to New Delhi. The Indian Consulate General in India, Masar-i-Sharif, said in a Twitter post that all Indians in and around Masar-i-Sharif are requested to board a special flight departing late this evening.


"Indian citizens wishing to board a special flight should submit their full name, passport number and expiration date on WhatsApp at: 0785891303, 0785891301"


Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan conduct joint military exercises near the border with Afghanistan


Soldiers from Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan used new Russian guns, flamethrowers and surface-to-air missiles in military exercises.


Moscow and its former Soviet allies in Central Asia conducted two separate military exercises near Afghanistan this month as Taliban militants are high in the country's northern provinces near Central Asia.


The exercises included 2,500 soldiers, hundreds of armored vehicles and 25 aircraft. The Russian forces involved came from a military base in Tajikistan.





Six countries urge EU to continue Afghan deportations


Six EU countries have called on the European Commission not to stop deporting Afghan migrants despite the Taliban's acceleration.


"In one letter, along with Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark and Greece, some Afghans must continue to be guaranteed a compulsory return," said Sammy Mahdi, Belgian Minister  Asylum and Migration Minister.


The Afghan Armed Forces announced on Tuesday that it had repulsed a Taliban attack in the northern Balkh province's capital, Mazar-i-Sharif, killing more than 80 militants.


The Afghan military says a Taliban attack is aimed at breaking through the Pul-e-Imam Bukharidefense fort in Tihtadi district and capturing a fort in Nahr-e Shahi district. More than 80 Taliban militants were killed in the fighting, and a hideout, weapons and ammunition were destroyed.
