Serum is set to begin production of the Sputnik vaccine in September

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) on Tuesday said that the Serum Institute of India (SII) will start production of the Sputnik vaccine at its facilities in September.

“The first batch of the Sputnik vaccine is expected to be manufactured at SII facilities in September,” the RTIF said in a statement.

The parties intend to produce more than 300 million vaccines a year in India.

"As a component of the specialized exchange measure, SII has effectively gotten cell and vector tests from the Gamaleya Center. With their import endorsed by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), the development interaction has started," RDIF said.
