Maharastra : Nagpur Under 7 Day Lockdown from Today
The state government on Thursday decided to impose a lockout from March 15 to 21 in Nagpur district as the number of COVID-19 cases has increased in Maharashtra.
Roads across Nagpur looked deserted as the city entered a week-long lockout on Monday.
"From March 15 to March 21, a complete lockdown will be imposed in the Nagpur city police commissionerate area. Essential services will continue," said Nagpur Guardian Minister Nitin Rawat.
Nagpur lockdown: What is allowed and what isn’t
- According to an order issued by the district administration, only essential vegetable and fruit shops and milk stalls will be open.
- Large gatherings of all social, religious, political and other types are not allowed. Theaters and sporting events with spectators are also not allowed.
- The traffic police will take care of traffic to stop unnecessary trips and check most offices and shops.
- Schools, colleges and other educational institutions will remain closed. Online classes will continue.
Maharashtra has 16,620 new Govt-19 cases and 50 deaths in the last 24 hours, the state health department said on Sunday evening.
There are a total of 1,26,231 cases in the state. The total death toll in the state is 52,861.
In the last 24 hours, 1962 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Mumbai.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uttam Thackeray on Thursday said that strict locking measures will be implemented in some parts of the state to curb the spread of COVID-19.
