Covid vaccine in India: Oxford's emergency authorisation

In India, the vaccine against the corona virus novel is expected to be available in a few weeks, according to the Federal Ministry of Health.

The country is considering Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine following a request from U.S. pharmaceutical company for emergency use. India is actively considering two more vaccine candidates - one in collaboration with the Serum Institute of India or SII AstroGeneca and the University of Oxford and the other with Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech.

Both SII and Bharat Biotech are currently conducting Phase 3 trials of their respective vaccine candidates in the country.

Applications from Pfizer, SII and Bharat Biotech are being reviewed by the Course Expert Group (SEC) on Covit-19 at the Central Pharmaceutical Quality Control Organization (CDSCO).
