North Korea Launches Multiple Cruise Missiles from Eastern Coast

On Wednesday, North Korea launched some cruise missiles from its east side, as reported by Seoul's military. It's the most recent in a series of weapons tests they've been doing this year.

Our military spotted some unidentified cruise missiles over the waters northeast of Wonsan at around 09:00 today (1200 GMT), and South Korea-US intelligence authorities are doing a thorough analysis," stated the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

It mentioned that they are "increasing surveillance and staying alert, closely monitoring for any more signs or activities from North Korea."

Earlier this week, North Korea declared it had tested a new control system for a multiple rocket launcher, stating it would have an "enhanced" role on the battlefield.

This year, Kim has stated that South Korea is his country's "main enemy," scrapped organizations focused on reunification and outreach, and warned of war for even the slightest territorial violation, even 0.001 mm.

Pyongyang has been increasing weapons tests, which include a test of an "underwater nuclear weapon system" and the launch of a hypersonic ballistic missile using solid fuel.

It has also fired numerous cruise missiles, leading experts to speculate that it is testing the weapons before sending them to Moscow for potential use in Ukraine.

In recent months, Pyongyang and Moscow have become closer. Leader Kim Jong visited Russia in September to meet with President Vladimir Putin.

Seoul and Washington claim that North Korea is giving weapons to Russia, and in return, Moscow is providing technical support for Kim's developing satellite program. This would go against several UN sanctions on both countries.

Unlike ballistic missiles, the current UN sanctions on Pyongyang do not prohibit the testing of cruise missiles.

Cruise missiles are usually powered by jets and fly at a lower altitude compared to more advanced ballistic missiles. This makes them more difficult to spot and stop.
