Noida Expressway Farmers' Protest Concludes; Delhi-Noida Route Reopens After 6-Hour Disruption

Massive traffic jams occurred at the Delhi-Noida border on Thursday. Police were present to inspect vehicles following a protest organized by farmers in Noida and Greater Noida.

Farmers in Noida and Greater Noida have been protesting since December 2023, asking for more money and better plots in exchange for their land, which was taken by the local development authorities in the past.

Because of this, the farmer groups arranged a 'kisan mahapanchayat' and a protest march to Parliament in the national capital on Thursday to push for their demands.

The police blocked the road with trucks and cranes near Dalit Prerna Sthal, closing two out of three lanes. Only one lane is open for vehicles heading towards Mayur Vihar. The traffic police have blocked access to the Noida Expressway. And they have suggested using local roads within Noida for travel and avoiding the Noida Expressway.

Many commuters are trapped in a traffic jam on the Noida-Delhi side. Because of the farmers' protest, there is significant traffic at Kalindi Kunj, while the traffic situation is normal on the DND Flyway.

At Chilla Border, the Delhi police have deployed water cannons and personnel to prevent farmers from entering Delhi.
