IMD has predicted heavy rain for four days in Odisha




The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. As a result, several districts in Odisha are expected to experience extended periods of rainfall lasting for four days, starting from Tuesday.


In addition to rainfall, the IMD regional center has cautioned that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected in certain areas of the state over the next 48 hours.


 The IMD's forecast, valid until 8:30 AM on Wednesday, includes an Orange warning (indicating preparedness needed) for heavy rainfall, ranging from 7 to 20 cm, in districts such as Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri.


Likewise, a Yellow warning has been issued for heavy rainfall in several districts, including Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Ganjam, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi. 


Additionally, there is a high likelihood of thunderstorms with lightning occurring in isolated areas across districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sonepur, and Bolangir, according to the bulletin.


The IMD has issued an Orange warning for heavy rainfall, spanning from 8:30 AM on Wednesday to 8:30 AM on Thursday, for the following districts: Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Sambalpur, Angul, Bargarh, and Jharsuguda. Additionally, a Yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Ganjam.


Furthermore, the IMD has predicted the likelihood of thunderstorms with lightning occurring in isolated areas across several districts. These districts include Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri, and Khurda.


Over the past 24 hours, the state experienced an average rainfall of 4.6 mm. The highest recorded rainfall was 67.2 mm in Jhumpura, located in Keonjhar district, followed by 62 mm in Khariar within Nuapada district, 60.4 mm in Koraput, and 50.6 mm in Berhampur situated in Ganjam district.








IMD has predicted heavy rain in some districts of Tamil Nadu


The IMD has predicted heavy rain at one or two places in the Nilgiris and in the Ghat areas comprising the Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, and Madurai districts of Tamil Nadu.


Regarding Chennai city, the IMD predicts partly cloudy skies with a likelihood of light to moderate rainfall over the next 24 hours.


IMD's forecast indicates that Chennai is expected to have a maximum temperature ranging between 35-36 °C and a minimum temperature between 25-26 °C over the next 24 hours.
