On Wednesday, the IMD Mumbai issued a "red alert" warning for Mumbai City and its suburban areas, indicating "extremely heavy rainfall" expected from 8 pm on July 26 until the afternoon on July 27.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered the closure of all schools and colleges in Mumbai after a warning from the Meteorological Department.

"BMC Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Iqbal Singh Chahal have declared a holiday for all municipal, government, and private primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools, as well as all colleges in Mumbai city and suburbs for tomorrow, July 27, due to the heavy rainfall," BMC stated.

"BMC requests all citizens to be vigilant, stay indoors, and kindly follow the administration's instructions," Chahal stressed.
