Flood in Assam: In 10 districts, 31,000 people have been affected.




For the next five days, the India Meteorological Department has issued a "red alert" and has predicted "very heavy" to "very heavy" rainfall in many Assam districts.


IMD's Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) in Guwahati on Monday issued a "Special Weather Statement" with "Red Alert" for the next 24 hours, "Orange Alerts" for the next two days, and "Yellow Alert" for Thursday.


More than 30,700 people have been affected by floods in the districts of Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, Sonitpur, and Udalguri according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA)'s daily flood report.


It also stated that Kokrajhar had almost 1,800 people affected, Dibrugarh had over 3,800, and Lakhimpur district had over 22,000 affected.


In seven districts, the administration has operated 25 relief distribution centers, but there is currently no relief camp in operation.


As of now, 444 towns have been submerged and 4,741.23 hectares of harvested areas across Assam have been affected, ASDMA said.


In Biswanath, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Kamrup, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara, Tamulpur, and Udalguri, flood waters have damaged roads, bridges, embankments, and other infrastructure.
