Indian Army on Thursday shot dead two terrorists who tried to breach an army camp in Rajouri, Jammu, and Kashmir. 3 soldiers also died in this operation.


The encounter erupted after the terrorists attempted to carry out a suicide attack on the base where the army company was operating. 5 soldiers were injured in the gunfight. The Indian Army has confirmed that the operation has now come to an end.


"An officer is among the army teachers injured in the fear-based terror attack. He has been rushed for medical treatment. 16 Corps Commander Lt Gen Manjinder Singh is continuing to check what is happening on the ground. The area is being cleared," Indian Army officials said.


Jammu Zone Police Additional Director General Mukesh Singh said, "Someone tried to cross the wall of the army camp at Bargal in the Darhal area of Rajouri. The fire was exchanged. Additional teams were sent to the area and two terrorists were killed, 6 km from Darhal PS."


Indian Army officials said, "In a psychological terrorist attack 25 km from Rajouri, two terrorists killed themselves on an army base. Two terrorists were killed and three own soldiers were killed. Operations are underway." said.


On Wednesday, three Lashkar-e-Teed terrorists were shot dead by security forces in Budgam. One of the slain terrorists was linked to the killing of civilians Rahul Bhat and Amreen Bhat.


The attack comes ahead of Independence Day celebrations and police and security forces are already on high alert.



National Conference Party President Omar Abdullah has condoled the death of 3 soldiers in an attack by terrorists on an army camp in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. "Very sorry to hear about the death in the line of duty of three soldiers following a militant attack in Rajouri. While condemning the attack I send my condolences to the families & my prayers for the swift recovery of those officers & jawans injured in the attack #Rajouri," the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister tweeted.
