India records 19,893 new Covid cases, 53 deaths 24 hours

With 19,893 new coronavirus infections reported in a single day, the total number of COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 4,40,87,037.

With 53 new Covid-related deaths in 24 hours, India's coronavirus death toll has risen to 5,26,530.

The 53 new deaths include 7 in Maharashtra, 5 in Delhi, 4 each in Assam, Himachal Pradesh, and West Bengal, 3 each from Punjab and Uttarakhand, 2 each from Karnataka, and one each from Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

Additionally, 15 deaths are corrected by Kerala as per Indian Council of Medical Research guidelines.

The total number of active cases of COVID-19 in India has dropped to 1,36,478, health ministry data showed today. Yesterday, the number of active cases registered was 1,37,057.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,34,24,029.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 87,67,60,536 samples have been tested for Covid-19 till August 3. Of this, 4,03,006 samples were tested on Wednesday.

Total cases 80,52,103; fresh cases 1,932; death toll 1,48,117, recoveries 78,91,665; active cases: 12,321; total tests 8,32,80,882.

According to the ministry, 205.22 crore doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
