India reported 16,135 new cases in the last 24 hours

India reported 16,135 new Covid-19 cases Monday, slightly up from 16,103 infections logged Sunday and 24 deaths, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

A total of 5,25,223 deaths have been reported in the country so far, including 1,47,940 in Maharashtra, 70,046 in Kerala, and 40,119 in Karnataka, 38,026 in Tamil Nadu, 26,271 in Delhi, 23,540 in Uttar Pradesh, and 21,225 in West Bengal.

The 24 new deaths include nine from Kerala, six from Maharashtra, five from Delhi, and three from West Bengal.

A maximum of 3624 people have been affected in the last 24 hours in Kerala. This is followed by Maharashtra with 2,962 cases, Tamil Nadu with 2,672 cases, Karnataka with 826 cases, and Delhi with 648 cases.

The country's active caseload has risen to 1,11,711 cases, which is 0.26 percent of the country's total positive cases.

13,929 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 4,28,65,519.

A total of 3,32,978 samples were tested on Sunday, taking the total number of samples tested to date to 86,39,99,907.

On the vaccine front, more than 1.97 billion cases of Covid-19 have been administered nationally so far, of which 1,78,383 were administered in the last 24 hours.
