India has reported 16,866 new Covid cases and 41 deaths in the last 24 hours

According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday, India saw a single-day increase of 16,866 Covid-19 infections, taking the total number of Covid-19 cases to 4,38,05,621.

The death toll rose to 5,26,074 with 41 new deaths, data updated at 8 am showed.

The 41 new deaths include 13 from Kerala, 6 each from Maharashtra and West Bengal, 4 from Punjab, 2 each from Delhi and Sikkim, and one each from Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Manipur, Nagaland, Odisha, Tripura, and Uttar Pradesh.

Additionally, the top five states with maximum cases are Kerala with 2,021 cases, Maharashtra with 2,015 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,945 cases, West Bengal with 1,817 cases and Karnataka with 1,151 cases.

Currently, the number of active cases in the country stands at 1,50,877. Yesterday, the registered active cases were 1,52,200.

18,148 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the total number of recovered patients (since the outbreak started) now stands at 4,32,28,670.

As indicated by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 87,27,59,815 samples have been tested for Covid-19 till July 24. Of these, 2,39,751 examples were tried on Sunday.

India has administered a total of 16,82,390 doses in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of doses administered to 2,02,17,66,615.
