India reports 11,793 fresh infections and 27 deaths

India reported 11,793 fresh Covid cases in the past 24 hours, According to Union Health Ministry data on Tuesday. 

The death toll rose to 5,25,047 with 27 new deaths, the Ministry of Data updated at 8 p.m.

The 27 new deaths include 13 from Kerala, five from Maharashtra, three each from Delhi and Punjab, and one each from Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, and Uttarakhand.

Kerala (3,206), Maharashtra (2,369) and Tamil Nadu (1,461) have 7,036 or 60 per cent new cases. Delhi (628) and Karnataka (617) were also major contributors

9,486 patients recovered and the total number increased to 4,27,97,092.

A total of 4,73,717 tests were conducted across the country, bringing the total to 86.14 crores.

According to the ministry, 197.31 crore vaccines have been distributed in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.
