781 Omicron cases reported in India and most of the cases are in Delhi.
Omicron cases in India reached 781 on Wednesday, with the highest number reported in Delhi. In the last 24 hours, 238 Omicron cases have been reported in Delhi.
Meanwhile, 167 new cases of Omigron variant have been registered in Maharashtra. Gujarat and Kerala reported 73 and 65 Omigran cases respectively. 241 patients in the country have recovered from the epidemic.
As cases continue to rise, the Union government has also approved the Corbevax and Covovax Govt vaccines and the antiviral drug Molnupiravir for prohibited use in adults in emergency situations.
The Delhi government has launched a "Level-1" alert under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) announcing the implementation of the new ban, which Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said was due to the fact that the Kovit-19 positive ratio in the city has crossed 0.5 in 48 hours.
Schools, colleges and educational institutions will be closed. Private offices operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 50% efficiency.
