 Rain in Chennai: 8 flights canceled

Four appearances and four departures were abandoned at the Chennai airport on Wednesday due to bad weather.

Flights were canceled due to bad weather expected on Wednesday evening and night.

Indigo Airlines flights to Madurai at 4.10 pm, Mumbai at 7.55 pm, Trichy at 7.55 pm and Air Arabia flight to Sharjah at 9.35 pm have been canceled.

Indigo Airlines flights from Madurai at 7.30 pm, Trichy at 10.30 pm, Mumbai at 1 am (November 11) and Air Arabia flights from Sharjah have been canceled.

Domestic flights (ATR-72) were canceled as a precaution due to strong winds at night.

"The airlines have taken this decision based on the weather forecast to prevent disruption to passengers. The canceled domestic flights are small planes that may have difficulty landing in airy conditions," an AAI official said.

Strong winds are likely as the low pressure area develops into a depression and approaches the shore.
