India record 16,156 new Covid-19 cases

Five days after the last 24 hours with 16,156 new cases, India's daily corona infection (COVD-19) has crossed 16,000, rising to 34,231,809, the Union Health Ministry said at 8 am on Thursday. Earlier, when 16,326 cases were reported last Saturday (October 23), the daily number of infections exceeded 16,000.

More than 17,000 patients have recovered from the disease, while 733 have been infected with the virus within 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovery and deaths to 33,614,434 and 456,386, respectively. The number of active cases is 160,989, the lowest in 243 days and 0.48% in the case.

The overall Covid-19 recovery rate in India is 98.2%, the highest since March last year. The daily positive rate, on the other hand, is currently 1.25% and has been below the 2% mark for the past 24 days.

The number of infections on Thursday was 2,705 higher than on Wednesday when 13,451 people were found to be infected with the Covid 19 virus. The death toll on Thursday was 148 more than on Wednesday, when 585 deaths were attributed to the disease.

So far 6,04,498,405 samples have been tested, of which nearly 1.3 million samples have been tested in the last 24 hours, the Medical Research Council of India (ICMR) said on Thursday.

Prior to vaccination, authorities administered a total of 1,040,499,873 vaccine doses to eligible beneficiaries. Of these, 723,497,151 beneficiaries received the first dose, while the remaining 317,002,722 were fully vaccinated. 4.9 million beneficiaries were vaccinated in the previous 24 hours.
