India adds 30,773 new cases and Kerala registers more than 19,000 cases
According to a recent report by the Ministry of Health, 30,773 new Covid-19 cases and 309 deaths have been reported in India in 24 hours. There were 4,889 fewer cases in India on Sunday compared to Saturday. However, there was an increase of 28 new deaths in the last day. Overall, India's death toll has risen to 4,44,838.
There was also a decline in cases that were active on Sunday. There are 8,481 less active cases reported in India, bringing the total to 3,32,158. The active cases in India account for 0.99% of the total cases. A total of 3,945 patients recovered from the virus in one day. So far 3.26 crore patients have been cured of Covid-19 infection, according to the Ministry of Health. With the latest data, India's Covid-19 caseload has increased to 33,448,163 as on September 19.
Meanwhile, more than half of the daily new cases across the country are in Kerala. There are 19,325 new infections reported in Kerala. However, the state saw a decline in its daily Covid number compared to Friday’s number. As on September 17, 23,260 cases were reported in Kerala.
Maharashtra has also announced a reduction in its daily Covid-19 infection. According to the state's daily health report, 3,391 cases and 80 deaths were reported in 24 hours. Currently, there are 47,919 active cases in the state.
In addition, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana, the worst affected areas during the second Covid-19 wave, saw massive improvement in their active gaslot. Delhi has represented only one death due to Covid in September, while the Uttar Pradesh government has said more than 30 districts in the state have become corona-free.
The reduction in Covid-19 cases coincides with the increase in vaccine. India’s Covid-19 vaccine coverage has crossed 80 crore and more than 77.25 lakh vaccine doses were delivered on Saturday.
According to the Ministry of Health, India provided more than 10 crore vaccines in just 11 days. On September 17, Prime Minister Modi's birthday, India set a new world record by delivering 2.50 crore Govt vaccines a day. According to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, on September 17, India delivered 466 doses per second.
India has so far conducted 55.23 crore Covid-19 tests, of which 15,59,895 took place on Saturday.
