WhatsApp updates privacy policy, makes data-sharing with Facebook mandatory

WhatsApp users today receive an app notification regarding the app's updated Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

On Wednesday several users in India raised a dangerous pop-up from the news-application service, asking them to accept the new privacy rules or lose their accounts. The new changes to the Privacy Policy and Terms will take effect on February 8.

The changes, which are set to produce results on February 8, 2021, are required and clients won't have the option to keep utilizing WhatsApp except if they acknowledge the terms.

The new terms and privacy policy appear to be based on changes announced in July 2020, although this earlier update gave users the opportunity to block the sharing of their WhatsApp account information on Facebook. The latest update removes this option.
