Philips wants Xiaomi banned from selling phones, files case in Delhi High Court
Philips has approached the Delhi High Court seeking an injunction restraining the sale of Xiaomi patented phones. The lawsuit filed by Philips not only prohibits sales on Xiaomi's own and other third-party websites, but also seeks to manufacture, assemble, import and advertise Xiaomi products.
The company wants to ban some Xiaomi phones, including UMDS Development (HSBA, HSBA +) and LTE technologies, in violation of certain patents.
Phillips has sought in his petition to issue an order to the Central Excise and Customs Board to authorize custom officers in all Indian ports who do not allow the importation of Xiaomi phones, specifically the models mentioned in the case filed.
In an order issued on November 27, the Delhi High Court awarded xiaomi and the other defendants Rs. 1,000 crore in their bank accounts operating in India.
