Tamil Nadu Cyclone : Nivar Cyclone
Coastal Tamil Nadu has been hit by heavy rains and strong winds after meteorologists warned of a possible hurricane in the Bay of Bengal at 6 am on Wednesday.
According to the Regional Meteorological Office, the recession will be 520 km south of Chennai at 5 pm.
Six teams of the National Disaster Rescue Force have been sent to Cuddalore and Chidambaram districts in Tamil Nadu. The National Crisis Management Committee examined the status and preparations for Hurricane Nivar.

Coastal Chennai, including Tamil Nadu, is forecast to receive heavy rainfall. Windspeed is expected to reach 100 to 110 kilometers per hour during a landslide. Fishermen are advised to stay away from the sea.
The meteorological department has warned of strong winds in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and northeastern Sri Lanka.
Villupuram, Cuddalore, Pondicherry and Chennai are expected to be one of the worst affected areas.
Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has ordered the suspension of all bus services in the seven districts of Pudukkottai, Nagapattinam, Tanjore, Thiruvarur, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Chengalpet from 1 pm on Tuesday. He said the order would stand until further instructions and that the public should remain indoors due to the hurricane.
