Israel strikes Iranian targets in Syria in retaliation for planting of explosives on border
Israeli warplanes hit military targets belonging to the Iranian Goods Force and the Syrian army early Wednesday morning. The IDF said in a statement that the attack damaged warehouses, command posts and batteries of air missiles from military bases and surfaces.
The IDF said the Iranian-led Syrian team had an improvised explosive device (IED) with an alpha line to attack Israeli troops on the Israeli-Syrian border.
The Syrian regime's anti - air forces are said to have tried to prevent the attack. While the country does not expect any response to the strikes, Israel has stationed its iron dome air defense system in the north.
According to the Jerusalem Post, Israeli attacks have hit eight targets, from the Golan Heights to Damascus, including the Iranian military base near Damascus International Airport, a military base that serves as a home base for senior Iranian officers, and the command post for Syria's 7th airstrikes and advanced aircraft and Trucks.
Syria's local media have reported that Syrian air defense has fired missiles at the Israeli capital.
Tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated in Syria following repeated clashes, and Israeli opposition and recent tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon, since July, against the entry of Iranian and Iranian-backed Hezbollah near the Golan Heights in Syria.
Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has been trying to establish a permanent presence in Golan Heights in southern Syria, and Israel has always sought to prevent it with deadly airstrikes.
Yesterday, the IDF exposed an Iranian-led Syrian attack along the Alpha Line.
