IPL 2021 New Team : Adani, Goenka and few others eyeing ownership
As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering expanding IPL 2021, it has now been confirmed that Ahmedabad will be added to the IPL list ahead of anyone else. The names of Lucknow / Kanpur and Pune will come up for discussion only if the BCCI decides to increase the number of teams to more than 1 for IPL 2021 or IPL 2022. Gautam Adani-owned Adani Group and Sanjeev Goenka-owned RPSG will be the biggest contenders for the 9th IPL team. Adani has openly stated their interest in owning an IPL team in the past. As Ahmedabad is now proud to be the largest cricket stadium in the country, their interest will multiply.
Goenka, on the other hand, has been the owner of the Rising Pune Supergiants IPL team for the past two years and will definitely throw their hat in the ring when the BCCI comes out with a tender.
Apart from Adani and Goenka - the best actor in South India is said to be interested due to the IPL team with Mohanlal and a big business firm from South India. He recently got acquainted with the BCCI officials in IPL 2020 in the United Arab Emirates.
The BCCI has not yet officially announced how and when the tenders for the new team will be released. P.C.C.I. Decisions regarding the new team and mega auctions will be made in the 2nd week of December.
