Massive forest fires in Syria
Massive wildfires in war-torn Syria this week have killed at least two people and burned large tracts of land, according to state media and officials in neighboring Lebanon.
Hundreds of hectares had been burned in the countryside in the Syrian coastal provinces of Latakia ,Tartus, as well as in the central province of Homs.
The fire killed at least two people in Latakia province on Friday and left 70 others hospitalized with respiratory problems, the health ministry said.
Syrian Agriculture Minister Mohammed Hassan Katana fired dozens of fires at a radio station on Friday, including "45 in Latakia and 33 in Tartus."

A fire broke out in a building in Qardahah used as storage for a state-owned tobacco company, part of which collapsed. According to local media reports, the city's local hospital was also engulfed in flames.
