Prime Minister Modi laid foundaion for Ayodhya temple
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for a Hindu temple in the town of Ayodhya in northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
This was the first run through PM Modi visited the Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya. According to custom, he visited the Hanuman Garhi first, and afterward showed up at the sanctuary site to take an interest in the 'Bhoomi Pujan' function.
PM Modi was welcomed at the Saket helipad by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among others.
The prime minister Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took part in 'pooja' and 'darshan' at Hanumangarhi temple. From Hanumangarhi, he travelled to 'Shree Ram Janmabhoomi' where he offered prayers to 'Bhagwan Shree Ramlala Virajman' and performed the groundbreaking ceremony.
Later, he unveiled a plaque to mark the laying of the foundation stone and also release a commemorative postage stamp on 'Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.
The development of the excellent Ram sanctuary at Ayodhya, whose 'bhoomi pujan' was performed on Wednesday, is relied upon to be finished in the following three years, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) said.
